Comedy Central's Jon Stewart Monday praised President Barack Obama's fiery speech calling on Congress to pass his jobs bill, but added that the country really needed it before the "unstoppable shit spiral" started.
Stewart began by suggesting that the "American Jobs Act" needed a better name like "Americans Take This Job And Love It Act" or "Remember Me? I Fuckin' Killed Bin Laden Employment Act of 2011."
"Branding issues aside, Obama was on a tear Thursday night," the Comedy Central host noted. "Mr. President, maybe you could have done this whole 'hit 'em where it hurts' thing before the country slid into an unstoppable shit spiral."
"Of course, we've become accustom to Obama acquiescing to Republican intransigence," he continued. "Look at the fire in Obama's belly. Look at it! I remember that guy. It's so refreshing, ladies and gentlemen. Campaign Obama is back -- so much cooler than governing Obama."
Stewart added: "Let's use that and convert America to a campaign-based economy. The commercials, the bus tours, the fund raising. Think how many teachers, first responders and construction workers we could hire if we needed them to stand behind politicians eight hours a day, 365 days a year. And what pumps more money into a local economy than a political convention? Republicans and Democrats could each hold one monthly in every state, injecting billions into the balloon-drop, straw-hat, escort and dead escort-removal industries."
