The founder of a political action committee (PAC) supporting Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is a member of the 9/11 Truth Movement, which suspects that the U.S. government was involved in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
In Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings released last week, the Revolution PAC, a so-called "independent" super PAC that can raise and spend unlimited funds, lists Gary Franchi as its founder, chairman and treasurer, according to MSNBC.
Franchi founded the Lone Lantern Society of America, a now-defunct group that was obsessed with 9/11 conspiracy theories. He and Paul have both been frequent guests on the Alex Jones Jones Radio Show.
In a 2008 interview, he suggested to former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge that the World Trade Center had been brought down by "controlled demolition."
"I don't buy that," Ridge replied. "I'm just sorry. That's a conspiracy theory that has absolutely no reasonable basis in fact. It's almost out of the Twilight Zone."
"I don't think the 9/11 Commission report answered those questions," Franchi insisted at the time.
More recently, Franchi has co-written and co-produced the film "Camp FEMA: American Lockdown," which alleges the Federal Emergency Management Agency is building concentration camps.
A 2010 report by the Southern Poverty Law Center called Franchi "one of the leading promoters of a resurgent Patriot conspiracy theory that alleges the government is creating concentration camps for U.S. citizens."
