A Denver police officer has been arrested for abusing his girlfriend, who he accuses of hitting him in the foot with a Justin Bieber doll.

According to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun, Christine Polliard told police that officer Michael Nuanes Jr. had picked a fight with her because she would not change the relationship status on her Facebook page.

Polliard said that Nuanes "grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground and punched on the left side of her rib cage area causing her much pain and shortness of breath." After she retreated to the bathroom, he allegedly broke the door in half and "hit her on the top of the head, back and right elbow with the broken door."

For his part, Nuanes blamed Polliard for the violence, saying that she had "thrown things at him, pushed him, shoved him, grabbed him, bit him, slapped him with an open hand, attempted to strangle him and beat him up."

"Michael Nuanes stated that Christine Polliard had thrown a 'Barbie Doll' at him which bruised his foot and it hurt," the police report said. "Michael Nuanes pointed out a 'Justin Bieber' doll which was the item used to injure him."

KMGH looked into Nuanes' past and found this wasn't the first time he has been on the other side of the law.

The city was forced to pay $75,000 after he was accused of assaulting an innocent man who was walking home from playing chess in 2007. And in 2003, the officer admitted to taking a lewd photo of a suspect he had arrested for prostitution.

He is currently out on $1,500 bond for charges including misdemeanor assault, property damage and obstructing telephone service. A spokesman for the Denver Police Department said that Nuanes had been placed on desk duty and was not allowed to carry a gun because of a protection order related to the domestic violence charge.
