On Wednesday night's edition of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart played back the now-infamous "hot mic" incident from President Obama's trip to South Korea for a nuclear summit earlier this week.
While Republicans were quick to attack the president for what they perceived as electoral hubris, Stewart sees another reason for alarm. To him, the worst part of the president's remarks to Russia's Dmitry Medvedev was the cynicism of the president seeming to say, "I can be more reasonable after my election, but I've got to act like an idiot until then."
He also mused about the fact that everything sounds more sinister when spoken with a little "Russian sauce" on it. Medvedev's reply to the president, "I will transmit this information to Vladimir (Putin)," said Stewart, is the kind of thing "that only should be spoken into a shoe phone."
