Police in Dallas, Texas are still hunting for the body of an 11-year-old boy who they say was starved to death by his parents over the course of six months.
The mother and father of Jonathan Ramsey are both behind bars, accused of keeping their son in a small bedroom and feeding him just bread and water. Police became suspicious after Ramsey's grandfather began to insist that he be allowed to see the boy, after months of being refused access.
Details of the tragedy broke Sunday morning in The Dallas Morning News.
According to law enforcement, the parents claim that he'd been punished severely after he hit his mother in the stomach while she was pregnant, which they say caused her to miscarry triplets. After that, the parents allegedly admit his father put him on so-called "military rations" for several months, a diet that caused him to go from 90 to 60 pounds before his death.
When he was finally too weak to walk or even talk, Aaron Ramsey allegedly put his son into a sleeping bag and disposed of his body somewhere in Ellis County, where authorities are still searching for the boy's remains.
Aaron and Elisabeth Ramsey allegedly perpetuated their crime by lying to the boy's other family members for months on end. If the boy's body is recovered, they could face additional charges related to the murder.
