Anti-abortion activist Lila Rose: The Church must ‘rise up’
Anti-abortion activist Lila Rose said Tuesday that Christians needed to become more involved in politics and reclaim the United States, according to Right Wing Watch.
On James Robison’s Life Today TV program, she was asked if she thought the “biggest mistake believers can make is to stay out of” the political arena.
“It’s crazy what we’ve allowed,” Rose responded. “So I think now more than ever the church does need to rise up. We need leaders of faith to stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough.’ This is our nation.”
“This is a nation founded under God for the protection of human life because they are endowed by their creator with these rights and we need to remind people this is a country that is based on Judeo-Christian values,” she continued. “That the reason that we’re great is because we value human life; we see human beings as being made in the image of God, human beings as being stamped with that beautiful mark of the creator God, and we need to remind people of that otherwise our nation won’t succeed.”
In constrast, conservative columnist Andrew Sullivan has blamed the rise of atheism in the United States to the politicization of Christianity. Sullivan, a faithful Catholic, said in April that numerous religious organizations were “muddying” the real “radical” message of Jesus, which was anti-political. Jesus was “only on the cross because he refused politics,” he remarked.
Rose has filmed undercover operations at Planned Parenthood clinics, posing variously as a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old purportedly impregnated by much older men. Her organization, Live Action, has also released video of individuals posing as pimps and underage prostitutes soliciting abortion services.
