On his show Wednesday night, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart lamented the fact that he would have to be covering the race between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for the next several months, neither of whom provided much in the way of comedic material.
Fortunately for Stewart, the Comedy Gods intervened and brought Donald Trump back into the public spotlight.
"Thank you, Gilda Radner, George Carlin, and Richard Pryor," he said. "On the day Mitt Romney celebrates clinching the Republican nomination, he also holds a fundraiser with reality TV host and antique doll hair thief Donald Trump, giving Trump an excuse to do phone interviews on not one, not two, but three separate cable news networks."
In those interviews, Trump ended up talking about the so-called "birther" conspiracy about Obama, providing Stewart with a slew of comments to mock.
