On Thursday night's edition of "The Daily Show," host Jon Stewart followed up on an earlier discussion of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's initiative to ban sugary soft drinks in servings of more than 16 ounces. Wednesday, New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) announced legislation that would decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Stewart said, "So, you're criminalizing soft drinks and decriminalizing soft drugs."
This led to the introduction of a new segment, "Jon Stewart tries to figure out what he's allowed to put in his mouth." ("Really?" he said in an aside, "That's what we're gonna say, really? This is how we're going to tell you this?")
Under the law, it would become a violation, not a misdemeanor, to possess more than 25 grams of pot. For those of you who are currently too stoned to use the metric system, that's an ounce, i.e., four quarter bags, or as Stewart said, "Eight eighths. Or, depending on your dealer, nine eighths."
