Steve St. Bernard, a New York bus driver, proved this week that with good timing and a dash of bravery, anyone can be a hero.

Bernard was walking home from his job with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Monday when he saw 7-year-old Kayla McCree dancing on an air conditioning unit three stories up. He didn't hesitate to position himself below her.

She she slipped and fell, Bernard told WPIX-TV in New York that he 'just prayed that I'd catch the little girl." And he did.

"I just look down at my baby and think that if someone saw her up there, they'd do the same thing," he concluded.

Bernard was later treated at a local hospital for a minor injury to his arm. The girl was unharmed.
