Connie Schultz, a Pulitzer prize-winning former columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, received an odd email last week from a self-identified conservative blogger. According to her public Facebook page, it read:
We are doing an expose on journalists in the elite media who socialize with elected officials they are assigned to cover. We have found numerous photos of you with Sen. Sherrod Brown. In one of them, you appear to be hugging him.Care to comment?
Just one problem: Schultz is Brown's wife. She replied:
I am surprised you did not find a photo of me kissing U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown so hard he passes out from lack of oxygen. He's really cute.
He's also my husband.
You know that, right?
She never received a response.
In the comments below her post, Schultz writes:
To those asking for his identity: I figured him to be an intern, as I couldn't find his name on the staff list of the blog he represented. I'm a mom. I want him to learn the right lessons from this, which won't happen if I out him. His editors are lost to us.
Nonetheless, that hasn't stopped speculation about for which notable conservative site the "reporter" might work.
We at Raw Story have our suspicions, but we're sure you have yours, too. So vote for which site is most likely to have sent a reporter on this muck-raking mission about "journalists in the elite media who socialize with elected officials they are assigned to cover."
