Colbert defends Romney aide’s outburst at ‘info-jackals’
Stephen Colbert said on his show Tuesday he didn’t see the big deal about Mitt Romney’s rash of miscues during his recent overseas trip, like his questioning of British readiness for the Olympics.
“Why is that controversial?” he asked during his Colbert Report monologue. “Every week, Hank Williams Jr. questioned if Americans were ready for some football.”
He then stood up for Romney aide Rick Gorka, who was caught telling the press “info-jackals” Tuesday, “Kiss my ass” after the presumptive Republican candidate ignored reporters during his visit to a Pope John Paul II memorial in Poland.
“Yes, show some respect for this man’s ass,” Colbert said, pointing at a picture of Gorka. “Which is apparently a holy site for the Polish people.”
On the bright side, Colbert said, Romney can now scratch three places off the list of “1,000 Places To Offend People Before You Die.”
