A Columbia, Tennessee man was arrested last weekend and charged with misusing 911 after he dialed emergency dispatchers nine times in a single day, including one call in particular wherein he asked if they could send a car to take him on a beer run.
Allen Troy Brooks, 67, was apparently drunk when he made the calls, according to a report in The Columbia Daily Herald‘s police blotter, in a bit of community reporting that was picked up by The Associated Press.
When an officer was finally dispatched, Brooks allegedly denied he’d made the calls and claimed he didn’t even have a phone. Although police told the man he’d just get a citation if he’d simply agree to stop calling, he reportedly refused to cooperate.
Brooks was arrested on a class A misdemeanor then released a short time later on a $1,500 bond.
