An unnamed New Zealand man showed up at an emergency room in Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand within the last week with an eel stuck in his butt.
"The eel was about the size of a decent sprig of asparagus and the incident is the talk of the place," a hospital source told the New Zealand Herald when the paper confirmed the incident took place. The source also mentioned this was the first time an eel had been found up someone's bottom, even though finding objects in that crevice isn't uncommon.
Doctors reportedly successfully removed the fish and the man was later released. Hospital officials did not confirm what type of eel made its way to the unusual location.
"No further comment will be made out of respect for the patient's right to privacy," Matt Rogers, spokesman for Auckland District Health Board, told the New Zealand newspaper.
