One person was killed and dozens more injured after protesters stormed a U.S. outpost in Karachi, Pakistan on Sunday.

The New York Times reported that this sudden spurt of violence follows days of peaceful protests in Pakistan over an anti-Islam YouTube video that has sparked protests around the world -- most notably the violence that killed four people in Libya last week, including U.S. ambassador Chris Stephens.

The consulate tweeted on Sunday, "All American personnel are safe and accounted for at #USConsulate Karachi. #Pakistan." The account followed with the tweet, "The United States government has absolutely nothing to do with this video. We reject its content & its message. #Pakistan #USConsulate."

Watch the video, uploaded to YouTube by the Associated Press on Sept. 16.
