Ann Coulter appeared on Piers Morgan on October 26 and discussed, much to her apparent chagrin, a tweet she sent out after the third presidential debate which called the president a "retard."
She said she used the word "because it's a synonym for loser."
When Morgan tried to argue that the term is offensive, she replied, "Do you call people with mental disabilities retards? Cause I don't and I think that's a nasty thing to do."
When Morgan said that people do use the word to be offensive, she said, "No they don't, they absolutely do not."
"I was not referring to someone with Down syndrome. I was referring to the president of the United States," she continued
The pair also hit on comments that Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock made about rape and pregnancy. He said during a debate with his opponent, “Life is that gift from God. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something God intended to happen,” reported the IndyStar.
"All Republican candidates apparently need to go through some sort of cattle prodding to learn to just say exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother," Coulter said.
She added later that "we can agree on" things like parental notification in most cases and "the husband being notified."
"Overturning Roe v. Wade…is not D-day for pro-lifers," she said, downplaying the importance of the 1973 Supreme Court case. "It just means it goes back to the states. And I promise you in the state of New York, the state of California, abortion will be legal until after the baby is born."
