After playing a series of clips featuring conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly railing at guests on his show over the so-called "war on Christmas" debate Fox News recycles every year, Current TV host Cenk Uygur just couldn't resist any longer.
Explaining where the tradition of the Christmas tree comes from, he quoted historical writings of the second century theologian Tertullian, thought to be one of the forefathers of Latin Christianity.
"Let them over whom the fires of hell are imminent, affix to their posts, laurels doomed presently to burn," he wrote of the trees pagans used to celebrate the winter solstice. "To them the testimonies of darkness and the omens of their penalties are suitable."
"You hear that?" Cenk asked. "Calling the pagan tree a Christmas tree? Bill O'Reilly, you might burn in hell. Oops!"
