Veterans Affairs spending on erectile dysfunction meds almost triples

Published

on

The Department of Veterans Affairs is spending almost three times as much it did in 2006 on erectile dysfunction drugs, reported Bloomberg News.

That’s apparently due to soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with mental health issues, according to a senior program manager at the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

And veterans who have post-traumatic stress disorder are more likely to report erectile dysfunction, as it was a risk factor for both younger and older veterans, according to a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Monthly prescriptions for such drugs almost doubled in the same time period, from 2.7 million prescriptions in fiscal 2006 to 4.5 million in fiscal 2012.

Conservative journalist Jennifer Rubin pointed to that mood of pessimism in her Washington Post column, arguing that Trump is badly out of touch with U.S. voters.

"A woman groomed by Jeffrey Epstein and his confidante Ghislaine Maxwell claims Maxwell raped her 'more than 20 or 30 times' when she was a teenager in the 1990s," reported Rachel Olding at The Daily Beast.
