Friday night on "Read Time with Bill Maher," host Bill Maher dedicated the final segment of his "New Rules" segment to blasting Donald Trump for suing him for $5 million.
"And finally," he said, "New Rule: Now that he's suing me for $5 million dollars because he says he's proved his is not the love child of an orangutan, Donald Trump needs to learn two things, what a joke is and what a contract is."
"But let me catch you up on all this," Maher offered. During the final weeks of the 2012 presidential campaign, Trump offered $5 million to the charity of President Barack Obama's choice if Obama would produce his college records.
"I joked that Donald Trump needed to show me his papers to prove that he wasn't hiding a bad secret about his birth," such as the possibility that Trump's mother may have mated with an orange-haired orangutan.
"This is known as parody," Maher explained. "It's a form of something we in the comedy business call a joke."
"This upset the Donald so much," he continued, "that they could barely get him to stop flinging his feces."
But this is America, the host continued, where we have freedom of speech. "Just like we're the gun country," Maher said, "We're the joke country. We love our free speech and we love seeing celebrities get taken down a peg."
"So, Don," he said, "Just suck it up like everybody else."
