Magnitude-7.8 earthquake reported in southeastern Iranian province
A 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit southeastern Iran on Tuesday, the country’s Seismological Centre reported on its website.
The epicentre of the quake, which struck at a depth of 18 kilometers (11 miles), was located about 81 kilometres north of Saravan in the southeastern province of Sistan Baluchistan, it said.

Update, 7:45 a.m. EST: AFP reports taht the quake was felt as far away as the Indian capital of New Delhi and the Gulf cities of Dubai and Bahrain. NBC News reported that the United States Geological Service (USGS) had the earthquake at magnitude-7.8.
