Former Miami Dolphins player Chad Johnson, also known as "Chad Ochocinco," was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail after a judge observed Johnson slapping his lawyer on the rear, sparking a wave of laughter through the courtroom.

"I just don't know that you're taking this whole thing seriously," Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHughv told the former football star. "I just saw you slap your attorney on the backside. Is there something funny about this?"

Johnson, who once competed on "Dancing With the Stars," was in court Monday for a hearing on his recent parole violation, which was about to be cleared up with only minor penalties before he swatted his attorney's bottom. Previously, Johnson pleaded no contest to headbutting his ex-wife, VH1 "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada, which landed him on probation.

"This is your courtroom," Johnson pleaded with the judge, suddenly realizing the seriousness of his infraction. "I have no intent to make this a joke. It's not funny."

McHughv was not having it. "I'm not accepting these plea negotiations," she barked. "He is to be remanded into the custody of the Broward County Sheriff's Office."
