Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says he will travel to the state capitol in Austin this week to explain why Texas women should lose the right to have an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

A press release obtained by CNN said that Santorum would hold a press conference at the capitol on Thursday morning in support of a 20-week abortion ban that was temporarily derailed by state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) and other Texas Democrats last month.

"Rick is going to Austin this week to join those in giving a voice to the unborn," Santorum adviser John Branbender told CNN.

Politico reported that Santorum would be joined by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and other elected officials at the 10 a.m. CDT press conference.

Dallas-based Christian movie company EchoLight Studios announced last month that the Pennsylvania Republican would be taking over as CEO.

"Dallas can become the Hollywood of the faith-and-family movie market," Santorum said in a statement at the time.
