Unruly Florida man forcibly removed from airplane after bomb threats
A Spirit Airlines flight that originated in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was delayed in Atlanta last week when a man started screaming “[t]here’s a bomb on the plane! If she takes me off, I’ll blow the f****** plane up!”
The unidentified man on Flight 404 was captured on video by a fellow passenger who later posted it to YouTube. In it, the man can be seen shouting and screaming in a manner that police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution indicated he may have been having a “psychotic breakdown.”
Spirit Airlines said the man had been unruly the entire flight, shouting and throwing items at other passengers. The pilot had radioed ahead to Atlanta and asked police to meet the plane at the gate.
In the video, Atlanta police can be seen trying to calm the man down. After he was removed from the plane, the pilot entered the cabin and thanked the remaining passengers for their cooperation.
“Folks, it will just be a few more minutes, please remain seated,” he said. “We’ll let you know. I appreciate everyone’s cooperation. I want to sincerely apologize to everyone on board that airplane today for that.”
