Florida cop accused of using 911 and police substation for on-duty extramarital affair

A central Florida police officer quit his job after he was accused of using department resources to conduct an extramarital affair.

Investigators said Shaun Whiting planned meetings with the woman, whom he’d met on a service call at a grocery store, at a hotel room.

The woman would call 911 and hang up, authorities said, and Whiting would be dispatched to the hotel to investigate.

The woman later requested a ride-along with Whiting, which the department approved, and investigators said she performed a sex act on the officer at a police substation while he was on duty.

The woman’s husband went to police about the affair, reported WFTV-TV, and the married Whiting quit this summer before an internal investigation was set to begin in an effort to keep it a secret.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement intends to revoke Whiting’s certification, which would prevent him from ever working again as a police officer in Florida.
