News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch took to Twitter today to urge the "Irish" to boycott Guinness beer claiming the Irish brewery was bullied by "gay orgs" to drop their sponsorship of New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Calling the St. Patrick's Day event a "religious parade", Murdoch wrote: "Where will this end? Guinness pulls out of religious parade bullied by gay orgs who try to take it over. Hope all Irish boycott the stuff."
Late yesterday, Guinness beer announced that they had pulled their sponsorship of New York City's St Patricks's Day parade at the request of advocacy organization GLAAD with a statement saying: "Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all. We were hopeful that the policy of exclusion would be reversed for this year’s parade. As this has not come to pass, Guinness has withdrawn its participation. We will continue to work with community leaders to ensure that future parades have an inclusionary policy."
Murdoch's Fox News Channeln has made a point of defending the parade's exclusionary policies and attacking New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for his refusal to march in the city’s annual parade due to those policies.
