Lou Dobbs tells Bill O’Reilly: Obama orchestrated recent wave of immigrant minors
Fox Business host Lou Dobbs accused President Barack Obama on Friday of instigating the surge of undocumented immigrant youths making their way to the U.S. from Central America, Media Matters reported.
“I think what you’re watching is a community organizer playing hemispheric politics,” Dobbs told his colleague Bill O’Reilly. “I believe that there is an absolute league amongst the governments of El Salvador, of Guatemala, of Honduras and the government of Mexico. We’re talking about children who are being moved — and the national liberal media isn’t pointing this out — they’re being moved from 1,800 miles away, all the way up through the center of Mexico to our southern border.”
The sudden influx of “unaccompanied minors” to the U.S. has been attributed to escalating drug trade-related violence in the three Central American countries Dobbs mentioned. In response, Obama has ordered three military facilities to provide temporary housing for the children. About 60,000 youths are expected to make their way into the U.S. this year.
Media Matters also reported that, while the Fox News Latino website reported on alleged problems with the food given to the young immigrants from a more neutral standpoint, Fox News broadcasts have insisted on blaming Obama for the issue, while also judging the minors harshly.
Dobbs and O’Reilly continued that trend on Friday, with O’Reilly blaming Central American media for the issue.
“The media is telling the folks that if they come to the United States now, because of the DREAM Act and some of the other things that have been proposed, they’ll be able to stay,” he told Dobbs. “So then the people smugglers, the human smugglers, which take the children out of their villages and shepherd them all the way through Mexico, they’re making a ton of money.”
