A Missouri man and woman are under arrest after police say they dumped the body of a friend who had OD’s on a rural back-road after posing for a selfie with the corpse.
Chelsie Berry, 24, and Jared Prier, 28, have been charged with abandonment of a corpse, reports The Smoking Gun.
According to Berry, she was driving around with Dennis “Nathan” Meyer, 30, when Myer started to act “crazy” and injected himself with Dilaudid, a pain killer. The woman claimed that Meyer made her nervous so she contacted Prier, who met her at a McDonald’s where, according to the pair, Myers passed out.
Believing that Meyer had stopped breathing and unwilling to call an ambulance because they were both high on meth and Xanax, the pair drove Meyer into the back country, looking for a place to dump his body because, according to the police report, “they did not want to look at him any longer and also the fact that he began to smell bad.”
Before moving his body to the back seat, the pair posed for a selfie with Meyer — which Berry uploaded it to Facebook — eventually leading the authorities to the duo.
Thinking Meyer was dead, Berry and Prier pushed Meyer’s body out of the vehicle onto a rural driveway before driving off.
According to an autopsy, Meyer may have still been faintly breathing and “it would have taken a while for Nathan to die.”
Investigators stated that both Prier and the deceased were affiliated with the Joplin Honkies street gang.
