‘Proud mama’ Sarah Palin defends daughter Bristol’s role in violent brawl
Former vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) took to Facebook on Friday to defend her daughter by making veiled reference to the bloody melee her family was involved in earlier this month.
Talking Points Memo reported that Palin declared herself to be a “proud mama” of her daughter the “straight shooter,” who she called “one of the strongest young women you’ll ever meet.”
The post was the first public mention Palin has made of the reported brawl, in which witnesses described former teen mom and abstinence spokeswoman Bristol Palin as being “quite violent” in a confrontation in which she attacked the owner of the house where the party was being held and “cold-cocked him right in the face.”
“I love my Bristol!” Palin declared.
My straight-shooter is one of the strongest young women you’ll ever meet. I have to say this as a proud mama: right up there with their work ethic and heart for those less fortunate, my kids’ defense of family makes my heart soar! As you can imagine, they and my extended family have experienced so many things (liberal media-driven) that may have crushed others without a strong foundation of faith, and I’m thankful for our friends’ prayer shield that surrounds them, allowing faith to remain their anchor. Thank you, prayer warriors! I love you!
Palin then linked to a post by Bristol at the faith-based blog hub Patheos called “My Parents’ Divorce.”
“Aw…so sad,” wrote the 23-year-old former Dancing with the Stars contestant. “I just read an article on Yahoo’s front page about my family.”
“According to some random reporter, my parents are getting divorced,” she continued. “I find something new about my family every day! (Of course, the article and most of what the media reports about our family is complete garbage.)”
It appears that Bristol Palin was referring to this article on gossip blog Hollywoodlife.com.
