23 people injured — 3 seriously — in Halloween hayride accident
More than 20 people were injured including some seriously on Saturday when a truck towing a Halloween hayride went off the road, flipping the trailer and sending people tumbling to the ground, authorities and media reports said.
State Fire Marshal Sgt. Joel Davis said 23 people were taken to area hospitals, with three of the injured believed to be in serious condition.
The injuries occurred when the trailer-towed hayride overturned on the Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride at Harvest Hill Farms in Mechanic Falls, Maine, around 8.30 p.m.
Harvest Hill Farms said on its website that the ride and its Pumpkin Land Halloween attraction would be closed on Sunday to facilitate the investigation.
It was unknown what caused the accident. An investigation was under way and officials were interviewing witnesses as well as people who had been on the ride.
