Brigham & Women's hospital in Boston is 'safe' after one person shot: officials

One person was shot on Tuesday inside Boston's Brigham & Women's hospital, and the suspected shooter is in custody, the Boston Police Department said, adding that the situation was "under control."

The victim sustained "life threatening" injuries, police said. Police added they had recovered the gun used in the incident.

"Boston Police have assured us that the hospital is safe," hospital officials said on Twitter.

Brigham & Women's, located in downtown Boston amid a cluster of major healthcare facilities, is a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School.
