Police respond to explosion near Colorado NAACP chapter
There was an explosion near a building housing a chapter of the NAACP civil rights group in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, police said
Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded to the blast and were at the location of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter, police and FBI spokespeople said.
The Denver Post newspaper reported on Tuesday that an employee of the chapter heard a loud boom before police and members of a bomb squad entered the building.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reported that there were no injuries in the blast near the building, which also houses a hair salon. Streets around the area were closed while authorities investigated, the paper said.
