Bill Maher rips Rick Santorum's 'Christian morality': We could end climate change or just 'kill a hooker' instead

If the pope can accept that humans have an impact on climate change, Bill Maher wondered, then why can’t conservative American Catholics like Rick Santorum?

In a blog post, the host of HBO’s “Real Time” quoted Santorum, a former U.S. Senator and failed Republican presidential candidate, who said recently on CNN that there is “clearly” nothing the United States can do about climate change.

“Even folks who accept all of the science by the alarmists on the other side, recognize that everything that’s being considered by the United States will have almost — well, not almost, will have zero impact on it given what’s going on in the rest of the world,” Santorum said.

“If it has no impact, of course do nothing,” he continued. “Why would you do something and with people admitting that even if you do something, it won’t make a difference?”

Maher said Santorum, who presents himself as a religious authority, offered “an interesting interpretation of a Christian morality.”

“When you look at the really big picture, why do anything you don’t want to do?” Maher said. “I could do my homework, but I think I’ll kill a hooker. I mean -- it’s not like she’s not going to die eventually. I think Jesus said that.”
