A teen in California claims he found a chicken brain in his fast food meal from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Manuel Cobarubies, a Stockton High School student, told local news outlet Fox40 on Monday that all he wanted was his lunch money back.
The teen was eating chicken breast, thighs and corn when he noticed something odd.
“(It looked) like a brain to me. I mean at that point, red flags were kind of raised,” Cobarubies explained.
He tweeted a picture of the alleged brain, and the image quickly went viral. Representatives from the fast food chain contacted Cobarubies to apologize, and he eventually got his $4 back.
Richard Ramos, a KFC area consultant, told Fox40 that the “brain” was really a kidney or a gizzard.
And it’s not the first time a customer has found a “brain” in their KFC meal. A woman in the United Kingdom found a fried chicken kidney in 2013, and also assumed it was a brain.
