U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, a former Taliban prisoner in Afghanistan who was released last summer as part of a controversial prisoner exchange, has been charged with desertion and misbehavior, his attorney said on Wednesday.

Bergdahl's hearing was set for April 22 in San Antonio, his attorney said. The Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg in North Carolina said earlier on Wednesday that it would provide an update on Bergdahl's case.
