As a public service, the staff of John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight has created a brief video explaining why we still go through the yearly ritual of changing our clocks and losing an hour of sleep each year for Daylight Saving Time.
Contrary to popular belief, it has nothing to do with farmers or their “idiot cows.”
While it was created during World War I by the Germans in an effort to save energy, it now has the opposite effect with Americans using more energy – plus the added “benefit” of making people sleepy the following morning and more prone to accidents and injuries.
