John Oliver has the ‘Kid Rock driving a monster truck through a Dairy Queen’ graphic you’ve been looking for
John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight took Memorial Day weekend off, but that doesn’t mean that Oliver wasn’t thinking about fans who check online every Monday morning to see what he said the night before because they’re too cheap to get HBO.
In a web exclusive, Oliver shares “The Lost Graphics” — images created for the show that either didn’t make the cut or the attendant joke fell flat and was dropped.
Saying he is now “your best chance to see a man in a suit be secretly sad on the inside every Sunday night, now that “Mad Men” has concluded,” Olvier ran through the series of unused graphics. The odd assortment of images ran the gamut from of actor Paul Giamatti dressed as a mango, to Kid Rock driving a monster truck through the side of a Dairy Queen while waving an American flag.
“We had to create make [it] in Photoshop, even though it really seems like the kind of image that should have existed have existed in real life,” he explained. “Googling ‘Kid Rock driving monster truck through Dairy Queen’ does not give you the instant result back that you know in your heart it really should.”
