Michele Bachmann slams Carly Fiorina for praising Islam after 9/11 — just like George W. Bush did

Michele Bachmann praised an attack against Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, who committed the politically incorrect sin of praising historical Islam in the weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The former GOP congresswoman passed along a blistering attack written by conservative radio host and columnist Bethany Blankley, who complained that Fiorina — then CEO of Hewlett-Packard — had claimed Americans were indebted to Islamic civilization.

Fiorina argued the Muslim scientists and mathematicians had contributed great advances in the Ottoman Empire while “other nations were afraid of ideas,” but Blankley argued that other, non-Muslims had reached the same conclusions.
Blankley argued that any historical advances made by Muslims should be measured against present-day Islamic nations, which she claims “are the world’s poorest, most illiterate, and contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet.”
“What business leader, or any leader for that matter, would point to the very civilization as an example of America’s hope, which had just attacked it two weeks earlier?” Blankley wondered.
Blankley, who identifies herself as a 9/11 survivor, apparently forgot speeches given by President George W. Bush — who argued “Islam is peace” six days after the attacks and insisted two days later that the U.S. was not fighting a “war against Islam.”
“There are thousands of Muslims who proudly call themselves Americans, and they know what I know — that the Muslim faith is based upon peace and love and compassion,” Bush said Sept. 28, 2001 — two days after Fiorina’s speech. “The exact opposite of the teachings of the al Qaeda organization, which is based upon evil and hate and destruction.”
