Be afraid, be very afraid!
Many are celebrating Halloween today with scares and spookiness as all part of the fun. But as Media Matters points out, scaring people is something of a 365-days-a-year pastime for conservatives.
Whether it’s fear mongering about President Obama being a tyrant-Muslim-socialist who is secretly plotting a nationwide gun grab to facilitate the rise of fascist state, or about “machines taking over,” or Ebola, or immigrants, or African-Americans, or the LGBT community planning a mass persecution of Christians, conservatives busy themselves scaring folks, as seen in the montage below.
Media Matters compiled the video, which shows some of the most egregious moments, though it’s doubtless they had a wealth of material to choose from.
“President Obama, why don’t you just set us on fire!” one man exclaims.
“If you don’t say, ‘I am for immigration reform,’ you get killed, Fox News host Andrea Tantaros said. “If you say you’re against it, you get killed.”
After Bill O’Reilly says the Black Lives Matter movement is “extreme” and a guests calls them terrorists, retired New York police Detective Harry Houck says, “I’m asking people what they are doing in the event that they come across black youths on the street.”
It then cuts to NRA spokesman Wayne La Pierre yelling about “armed thugs jacked up on meth,” before showing a guest in Hazmat gear talking about Ebola.
