The anti-LGBT Westboro Baptist Church threatened to mount a protest at the National Weather Center in Norman, Oklahoma, arguing that meteorologists are "stealing God's glory," Gawker reported.

"Note to weather reporting rebels, nothing happens in this earth without the direct command of God," the group said in a statement.

The church also released a statement on Twitter saying that it would demonstrate against the agency on Thursday, "to remind them that ONLY by God's mercy and power do you gather intelligence on His weather. The day comes when all weather rules, as you know them, will be gone. America crossed the Rubicon when, by force of law, you permitted same-sex marriage."

The statement, which also makes reference to "your false goddess, Mother Nature," can be seen below:

KFOR-TV reported that the protest was announced to coincide with the annual Society of Environmental Journalists conference, which will be held at the University of Oklahoma. The university currently houses the center's facilities, as well as those of the Oklahoma City branch of the National Weather Service (NWS) and the NWS' Storm Prediction Center.
