At least one person was injured Tuesday afternoon in a shooting at a Long Island shopping mall.

The shooter opened fire about 1 p.m. just outside the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, reported WABC-TV.

Police have shut down the mall, and some witnesses claim they were knocked to the ground and trampled as panicked shoppers fled the building.

“We have one individual shot,” said Thomas Krumpter, acting Nassau police commissioner. “We have one subject in custody.”

The shooting is being investigated as a possible robbery.
