A Maryland man attacked his 5-year-old nephew after he found the boy playing with his Pokémon cards.
Kyle T. Burford was charged with second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault in the Dec. 22 incident at the Salisbury home he shares with the boy, reported the Delmarva Daily Times.
It’s not clear whether other relatives live in the home.
Police said the 29-year-old Burford struck the boy so hard he knocked the child from his feet and into a wall.
Burford was released from jail on his own recognizance, authorities said.
Pokémon is a card-trading game based on a video game series that originated about 20 years ago in Japan.
