To mark what he's calling the "Final Countdown" for their crowdfunding campaign, Mystery Science Theater creator Joel Hodgson will host a live telethon on Friday night in hopes of gathering enough donations to produce a 13-episode season for the show's return.
As the AV Club reported, the program has already secured more than $4 million -- far exceeding Hodgson's original $2 million goal and enough to put together nine episodes.
Friday's online telecast will be co-hosted by musical duo Paul & Storm, and feature appearances by the show's new cast members, including host Jonah Ray and new antagonists Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt, who are slated to play the children of the show's original villains, Dr. Clayton Forrester and TV's Frank.
Hodgson also revealed that Rick and Morty co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland will help write the new slate of episodes, while Robert Lopez, who co-wrote the hit song "Let It Go" for the animated film Frozen, will contribute some music to the project.
The telethon, as aired on the show's YouTube channel, can be seen below.
Day is also streaming the event on her Facebook page, which can be seen here.
