Ben Carson’s wife has even weirder stories about him than he does

In championing her husband Ben’s presidential aspirations, Candy Carson is providing more touches to his already-questionable personal canon, Gawker reported.

Candy Carson said in her newly-released autobiography that not only was the couple’s youngest son a surprise birth inside their home, but that the former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon reached her just before the boy was born and caught him in one hand while catching the afterbirth in the other.

After delivering the child, she wrote, she “ran up and down stairs” searching around the home for something he could use to clip the placenta off.

“Ben was calling out potential solutions, suggesting clothespins and other items— but I knew there weren’t any clothespins in the house, because we had a clothes dryer even back then,” she recalled. “Suddenly, rummaging through a drawer, I found a roller clip, the kind that is shaped like a bobby pin, only with straight shafts. I ran back up the stairs to where Ben had the baby, and he clipped off the umbilical, gave a sigh of relief, and must have cleaned the baby up.”

She recounted the story on Fox and Friends on Tuesday, while also sharing another story from the book in which the Republican presidential candidate singlehandedly stopped a carjacking while at a gas station.

“When he came out, he noticed that the car was starting to drive off,” she told the hosts. ” So he chased it. and you know, caught up, and when the guys, they got out of the car, they put it in park. They said ‘Wait a minute, are you that doctor?’ They were shaking hands, taking pictures.”

Ben Carson, whose campaign recently lost 20 staff members as well as his campaign manager and communications director, was called into question earlier in the campaign after several claims related to his past — including allegations that he protected white youths from protesters in 1968 — could not be substantiated. He later conceded that his autobiography was not “100 percent accurate.”

Beto O’Rourke calls for a ‘war tax’ in release of health care plan for veterans

The Democratic presidential candidate uses his eighth policy announcement to focus on an area that he prioritized in Congress.

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke on Monday morning released a plan to improve the lives of veterans, returning to an area of priority during his time in the U.S. House for his latest 2020 policy rollout.

In keeping with measures he supported in Congress, the plan calls for a "responsible end" to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — reinvesting $1 out of every $2 saved in veterans programs — and the creation of a Veterans Health Care Trust Fund for each future war. The fund would be paid for by a "war tax" on households without service members or veterans.

Conservative Ben Shapiro tweeted something many found offensive — so now he’s calling his critics ‘garbage’

Right wing "thought leader" Ben Shapiro appeared today to say not using the "N" word is nearly impossible as he defended conservative, pro-gun teen Kyle Kashuv, one of the Parkland survivors who just had his acceptance to Harvard rescinded over his racist remarks, which included repeated use of the "N" word.

To be clear, Shapiro denies that's what he meant.

Here is Shapiro on Twitter, in what many took as him appearing to call not using the "N" word – in Kashuv's case, repeatedly, over and over and over again, "an insane, cruel standard no one can possibly meet."
