After a surprise second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump took the win in the New Hampshire primaries Tuesday, NBC News reported.
Polls showed early on that Trump had the lead. The real estate mogul won the support of 34 percent of primary voters, with Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) placing in second at 16 percent. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) was third with 12 percent.
Cruz stumbled after his Iowa win, coming in fourth with 11 percent, while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) — who promoted himself as being on an upswing after placing third in Iowa, finished in fourth place.
Later this month, voters in Nevada and South Carolina will select their candidates.
