Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is ending his bid for the White House, according to reports.

CNN and Politico reported on Wednesday that Paul was suspending his presidential campaign to focus on his Senate race in Kentucky.

"It's been a incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House," Paul said in a statement on Wednesday. "I will continue to carry the torch for liberty in the United States Senate."

After launching his presidential campaign in April 2015, Paul struggled to gain traction. He finished fourth in the Iowa caucuses with 4.5 percent of the vote.
