WATCH: Musical smash ‘Hamilton’ caps Grammy win with electric special performance
The hit musical Hamilton not only won a Grammy Award on Monday night, but got a chance to showcase creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s show for a nationally-televised audience.
As The Daily Beast reported, tickets for the show’s Broadway run have almost completely sold out, making their special performance — filmed at its regular venue, the Richard Rodgers Theatre — a rare chance for fans who have not either bought or won lottery tickets to get a taste of the production.
The performance of the show’s opening number, “Alexander Hamilton,” also inspired the tag #Gram4Ham on Twitter, and came after it won the Best Musical Theater Album award. The show is also expected to dominate this year’s Tony Awards, which will be held on June 12.
