An Army veteran shot and killed his wife at their Kentucky home -- but he says the shooting was accidental.

Damien Lacambra fatally shot his wife, 21-year-old Amelia Lacambra, on Sunday afternoon in the St. Regis Park neighborhood of Louisville, reported WLKY-TV.

Police said the 22-year-old Lacambra, who appears to be wearing an Army sharpshooter badge in a Facebook photo, pointed the gun at his wife and pulled the trigger -- but he said he wasn't aware the gun was loaded.

Amelia Lacambra was pronounced dead at the scene, and her husband was arraigned Monday on one count of murder and remains held on $1 million bond.

Police said a child was also in the home at the time of the shooting but was not injured.

The shooting remains under investigation.
