Officials at DePaul University in Chicago are investigating reports that a noose was found on campus after Black Lives Matter activists interrupted a speech by a conservative blogger, NBC5 Chicago reports.

The university emailed an alert to students saying they had “multiple reports that a noose — a horrific symbol of racist intimidation — was found on the Lincoln Park Campus... These reports are being investigated and those found to be responsible will be held accountable."

The incident occurred Thursday night after activists disrupted a talk by conservative website Breitbart writer Milo Yiannopoulos by getting up on stage with him, DNAInfo reports. The discussion was entitled "Feminism is Cancer."

Yiannopoulos was speaking at a College Republicans event when he was interrupted by protesters blowing whistles. They later took over the stage.

“This man is an idiot,” one protester yelled, according to DNAInfo.
