Ohio Governor John Kasich (R) will suspend his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday, a senior campaign advisor told NBC News.
Kasich, a longshot candidate when he entered the race, enjoyed a brief resurgence when he placed second to Donald Trump in the New Hampshire GOP primary on Feb. 9. But Kasich languished at eight percent in the last Republican primary election in Indiana. Trump has amassed 1,047 delegates, while Kasich trailed with only 156.
Kasich will make a statement Wednesday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.
