Earlier on Monday, Donald Trump clumsily tried to walk back his position that the best way to prevent further terrorist incidents such as the one in Orlando would be to let clubgoers pack heat so they could kill any terrorists as soon as they start brandishing their weapons.
Even the National Rifle Association said that Trump’s proposal went too far since it would be a bad idea to encourage a room full of drunk people to all carry deadly weapons.
However, it turns out there’s one pro-gun advocate who’s come up with a novel way to make it safe for patrons to bring guns with them into bars and clubs: Namely, the bars need to not sell so much booze!
During a segment on CNN on Monday, Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America told Carol Costello that bars should be more responsible about how much alcohol they serve to customers so those customers don’t decide to go on drunken shooting rampages.
“Control the amount of booze you sell them, but don’t make them sitting ducks,” Pratt said.
“In a bar?” an appalled Costello asked in response.
“In a bar, yes,” Pratt replied. “Yes, it might hurt business. You don’t think a mass murder hurts business? That’s what gun-free zones do!”
