Nancy Grace isn’t exactly a progressive champion when it comes to legal issues, but every once and a while she gets something right. Per Law Newz, Grace appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday and absolutely tore into Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky, who has been heavily criticized for sentencing Stanford student Brock Turner to only six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman last year.
“There is no logical explanation for what he did,” said Grace. “This judge, Aaron Persky, I believe should be removed because not only did he ignore the state and their request for six years behind bars… but this is the law in that jurisdiction. The California Assembly said these felonies are punishable up to 10 years each… This guy’s going to probably do six months in county jail! Really? It’s absurd!”
A petition to remove Persky from the bench has attracted more than 100,000 signatures so far, which indicates that a lot of people agree with Grace that he should get the hook.
